The Run for Heroes charity run was held in Chicago, featuring one-kilometer and five-kilometer distances. The event was organized by senior youth members of the local branch of the Ukrainian Youth Association (UYA) to support Revived Soldiers Ukraine, a foundation that helps severely wounded Ukrainian servicemen receive medical treatment and prosthetic care in the United States. The fundraiser raised $10,000.
This was reported by Revived Soldiers Ukraine.
Participants of various ages, members of Chicago’s Ukrainian community, the Revived Soldiers Ukraine team led by the foundation’s president, Iryna Vashchuk-Disipio, and Ukrainian servicemen receiving treatment and prosthetic care in the United States took part in the run.
Among the participants were Artem Borysenko of the 151st Separate Mechanized Brigade, Mykola Yukhymenko of the 79th Separate Air Assault Brigade, and Serhii Yuriichuk of the 711th Separate Demining Brigade. Colonel Andrii Samoilenko, a surgeon at the Main Military Clinical Hospital in Kyiv, also joined the event.
The run was also attended by servicemen who had recently arrived in the United States for prosthetic treatment: Ihor Marych of the 39th Separate Marine Brigade and Serhii of the 102nd Separate Territorial Defense Brigade. They were accompanied during their medical evacuation from Ukraine by Colonel of the Medical Service Vitalii Haniuk, an anesthesiologist at the Kyiv Military Hospital.
The organizers said the initiative aimed not only to raise funds for wounded defenders but also to encourage young people to support Ukraine. Members of the Ukrainian youth movement, including participants from Ukrainian Youth Association branches, joined forces to organize the charity event.
The $10,000 raised will support severely wounded Ukrainian servicemen through Revived Soldiers Ukraine, which assists them with medical treatment, prosthetics, and rehabilitation in the United States.
