Participants of the "Russian captivity maims and kills" rally, initiated by the Ukrainian Canadian Congress (Calgary branch), gathered near the Holodomor Memorial and then marched through the city center with posters and banners to the local municipality.
The protesters called on the global community to pay attention to the horrific conditions under which Ukrainian prisoners are held in Russia, demanded their immediate release, and called for those responsible for these crimes to be brought to justice.
"Our goal is to draw the attention of the community to the lawlessness and disregard for international requirements regarding the detention of Ukrainian prisoners of war in Russian captivity. Additionally, it is important to remind and support our returned prisoners, as each of their stories of captivity is something the entire world must hear, and for which the Russian perpetrators, rapists, and murderers must be punished," the protesters emphasized.
