White House National Security Advisor John Kirby said that the United States will provide additional security packages for Ukraine. This was reported by The Guardian.
John Kirby, strategic communications coordinator for the National Security Council, said that "the United States will announce new military assistance packages in the coming days". Kirby's comments came after Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov discussed the battlefield situation and Ukraine's defense needs with his American counterpart, Lloyd Austin.
Kirby did not provide details on what kind of weapons would be transferred, but Politico reportedㅤthat the Biden administration is currently "open to sending long-range cruise missiles to Ukraine to boost the combat power of its F-16 fighters.
We are talking about JASSM air-to-ground missiles with a 450 kg warhead and a range of up to 400 km. But the Pentagon refused to comment on whether it had approved the transfer of these missiles.
"We are considering a range of options to meet Ukraine's security assistance needs", said Pentagon spokesman Jeff Jurgensen.
