On August 23, Ukraine celebrates its annual National Flag Day, and congratulations on this important holiday are coming from around the world. Leaders of international organizations, embassies, and ordinary citizens express their solidarity with the Ukrainian people and underscore the importance of this symbolic day.
U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Bridget Brink noted that Americans in the U.S. often fly Ukrainian flags in solidarity with the Ukrainian struggle against Russian aggression.
"I see the Ukrainian flag flying proudly every day in Ukraine, and I see it flying across America as a sign of solidarity among our people against Russian aggression. On National Flag Day, we are reminded of the symbol that embodies the desire to live free", the diplomat wrote on social media.
The US Embassy in the UK and the US Mission to the OSCE also sent greetings.
"Today, Ukraine celebrates National Flag Day, a reminder of the importance of the sovereignty and democracy of the Ukrainian people as they continue to resist the Kremlin's ongoing aggression", the embassy said in a statement.
The U.S. mission's page, along with a video featuring the words of Slava Ukraini, states:
"May the National Flag Day of Ukraine be a reminder that the forces of darkness and domination will never extinguish the flame of freedom that lives in the hearts of free people everywhere. Happy National Flag Day, Ukraine!"
"The Embassy of Canada in Ukraine also congratulated Ukrainians on this holiday in a special way: "Today, together with all Ukrainians, we celebrate the day of the blue and yellow flag of Ukraine, one of the symbols of its statehood and a symbol of independence in the world. Congratulations on the national flag day", the statement added.
