Blinken's Visit to Kyiv: Discussing Long-Range Weapons and Strategy for Ukraine

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken paid a working visit to Ukraine. In the capital he held a series of important meetings in support of Ukraine. They discussed the use of long-range weapons, the situation on the battlefield, Ukraine's goals, and what it needs to succeed in the future. They also discussed preparations for the second peace summit.

This was said by U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken during a joint press conference in Kyiv with the foreign ministers of Ukraine and the United Kingdom.

The visit of Blinken and British Foreign Secretary Lemmy to Kyiv was aimed at hearing Ukraine's plan to strike deep into Russia. And their meeting with the president lasted longer than planned, explaining in detail the need for this authorization, which Biden will discuss further during his meeting with Prime Minister Starmer in Washington on Friday.

"We discussed long-range strikes, as well as a number of other issues. And as I said at the outset, I plan to take this discussion back to Washington and brief the president on what I heard", Blinken told the press.

Blinken assured that he would share the details of the discussion with President Biden, and that the U.S. President and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer will meet in Washington this Friday to discuss this issue, as well as the issue of supplying combat brigades to the front lines and the overall strategy for achieving a just peace.

He also recalled that back in July, Biden announced the delivery of five strategic air defense systems and a dozen tactical air defense systems to Ukraine, emphasizing that some of these would be delivered to Ukraine in the coming weeks.

"We have provided Ukraine with extraordinary support over the past two years - not just in the form of training, not just in the form of money, but also in the form of our most advanced weapons systems", Blinken said.
