A charity event in memory of the Hero of Ukraine Mykhailo Yavorsky was held in Chicago. During the evening, more than $30,000 was raised, which will be donated to the 67th Separate Mechanized Brigade, where Mykhailo served. Mykhailo Yavorsky, originally from Prykarpattia, lived in the United States for more than 26 years, but after the outbreak of full-scale war in Ukraine, he left his family and job in America and returned home to defend his country.
He served in the 67th Mechanized Brigade and was killed by an enemy shell in the Luhansk region in May 2023 while rescuing his comrades, two of whom were taken to safety.
For the second year in a row, his sister Zoryana Yavorska has organized a charity event on the birthday of her brother, who is buried in Chicago, to fulfill Mykhailo's last wish to help his comrades to victory. To that end, she created the Brave Like Ukraine Foundation. Для чого заснувала фонд «Brave Like Ukraine».
This year's event raised nearly $30,000, which will be used for the needs of the 67th Mechanized Brigade, where Mykhailo served.
The charity evening was a kind of joint prayer of family and friends, blessed by Father Volodymyr Kushnir. The event included musical performances, prayers for the repose of the fallen and support for those now on the front lines, as well as speeches by Mykhailo's friends and colleagues. The Ukrainian band Antytila, which is currently touring the United States, also performed at the benefit.
