U.S. President Joe Biden met with President-elect Donald Trump at the White House. During the two-hour meeting, Biden and Trump discussed national security and domestic policy priorities, including the work of Congress for the next month and a half. They also discussed further support for Ukraine.
This was reported by the Voice of America.
Joe Biden reiterated his commitment and support for Ukraine, and explained why it is in the national interest of the United States to support Ukraine, and said that he would pass on everything he knows to the next team and that they believe will help put Ukraine in the strongest position for potential negotiations.
Also, US President Joe Biden will continue to convince Congress and the future Donald Trump administration to continue supporting Ukraine until the end of his term. This was stated by National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan in an interview with CBS News' Face The Nation.
"Over the next 70 days, President Biden will have the opportunity to prove to Congress and the incoming administration that the United States must not back away from its support for Ukraine. Not helping Ukraine would mean more instability in Europe," Sullivan said.
He added that Biden will stress the importance of providing resources for Ukraine even after his term is over.
"The threat to Ukraine will remain regardless of the situation on the battlefield or at the negotiating table. The United States cannot abandon its commitments to Ukraine and the allied countries we have engaged in Ukraine's defense," the Biden aide stressed.
