A ceremony to commemorate the victims of the Holodomor of 1932–1933 was held in downtown Washington (DC). The event brought together diplomats, representatives of the American government, clergy, the Ukrainian community in the United States, and other nationalities who support Ukraine.
This was reported by a special correspondent in the USA. Ukrinform.
The President of the Ukrainian Congressional Committee of America (UCCA) and the Chairman of the US National Committee for the Recognition of the Holodomor as Genocide, Mykhailo Savkiv, emphasized that the Kremlin's policy towards Ukraine remains unchanged.
"What happened over 90 years ago and what is happening now, especially in the last 1,000 days, is genocide," Savkiv emphasized.
He reported that more than 30 American states and a significant number of major US cities have already officially recognized the Holodomor as genocide. According to him, the Ukrainian community is making efforts to ensure that the White House adopts a similar decision.
Ukrainian Ambassador to the United States Oksana Markarova emphasized that modern Russian aggression continues Moscow's historical line of violence against the Ukrainian people.
"Today is the 1003rd day of the full-scale war, as well as the 3928th day of the war that Russia started in 2014. What we are dealing with today is not something new for us - we also experienced this in 1932-33," Markarova noted.

The ambassador emphasized the importance of international unity, which will allow us to stop the aggressor and preserve Ukraine as an independent European state.
US Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O'Brien confirmed that America continues to support Ukraine.

“The United States and more than 50 other countries are working to ensure that Ukraine has everything it needs to defend itself and that its people have the opportunity to determine their own future in their quest to be part of the European community,” O’Brien said.
He added that the current US administration is working to ensure the transfer of all funds from the large-scale aid package before the end of the presidential term.
