A Memorandum of Strategic Partnership was signed at the Embassy of Ukraine in the U.S. in Washington, D.C., establishing a new sister-city relationship between Lutsk (Ukraine) and Kent (Washington, USA). The memorandum outlines cooperation in education, culture, economic development, municipal services, and technology. Меморандум передбачає співробітництво у галузях освіти, культури, економічного розвитку, комунального господарства та технологій.
This was reported by Embassy of Ukraine in the USA.
According to the embassy, the document was signed by Lutsk Mayor Ihor Polishchuk and Kent Mayor Dana Ralph, with the participation of Ukraine’s Ambassador to the U.S., Oksana Markarova, and Honorary Consul of Ukraine in Seattle, Valeriy Holoborodko.
The signed memorandum establishes a foundation for collaboration in key areas, including education and culture, economic development and investment, municipal services, and technology.

""The people of Kent have been unwavering in their support for Ukraine, and we are grateful for the assistance provided to our nation. With one of the largest Ukrainian communities in Washington State (estimated at around 9,000 people out of a total population of 140,000), Kent serves as a bridge of friendship and solidarity. As we continue to expand interregional cooperation, we look forward to new partnerships, investments, and joint projects that will strengthen both of our countries," stated Ambassador of Ukraine to the U.S., Oksana Markarova.
Additionally, 18 children from the Lutsk community, aged 12 to 16, whose parents were killed in action, are missing, or are being held as prisoners of war, will have the opportunity to stay in the U.S. for three weeks for free rehabilitation and recovery. This initiative was made possible through a memorandum signed between the Lutsk community and the NGO “Together Ministry.” The first group of children is expected to travel to the U.S. for their rehabilitation and recovery program in June of this year.
Background Together Ministry is a U.S.-based nonprofit organization that provides support to Ukrainian children and families affected by the war with Russia. Their latest project, “Uniting for Ukrainian Kids,” focuses on rehabilitating children who have lost one or both parents due to the war. With the help of host families, the organization offers these children a chance to heal and recover from trauma.
