The “Ukraine Action Student Summit” took place in Washington, where Ukrainian and American students presented their own projects aimed at promoting Ukraine and strengthening support for it. The event brought together young people from various universities across the United States for advocacy, networking, and expert discussions.
This was reported by Embassy of Ukraine in the USA.
According to the report, the summit participants were welcomed by Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States, Olha Stefanishyna. She emphasized, in particular, the importance of student leadership in advancing democratic values and supporting Ukraine’s struggle for sovereignty and freedom. She stressed that young people are playing an increasingly visible role in shaping the international agenda around Ukraine.
The Ukraine Action Student Summit, organized by the Georgetown University Ukrainian Society together with the American Coalition for Ukraine, brought together students from different universities across the United States. Participants worked on advocacy initiatives, shared experiences, built connections, and took part in expert discussions on support for Ukraine.
As part of the event, students presented their projects designed to spread knowledge about Ukraine on university campuses. Their ideas were presented by Vladyslav Zaitsev (George Washington University), Kateryna Molnar (American University), Nikita Usatiuk (Chicago), Viktor Margulius (University of Wisconsin–Madison), and Stefan Hubariev (Ukrainian Association of Washington State). Their initiatives are aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s cultural presence and building lasting support within the student community.
Ukrainian diplomats Kateryna Smaglii and Volodymyr Riznychenko also joined the discussions, sharing practical experience in cultural and congressional diplomacy, particularly in the context of advancing Ukrainian interests in the United States.
The organizers also highlighted the contribution of Vira Berezhna, president of the Georgetown University Ukrainian Society, who played a key role in preparing this year’s summit.
The “Ukraine Action Student Summit” was first held in Washington in April 2024 and is part of the broader advocacy campaign of Ukrainians in the United States, the “Ukraine Action Summit.” This year, at the eighth Summit, the American Coalition for Ukraine brought together about 700 delegates from all 50 states to coordinate support for Ukraine.
