Against the backdrop of tensions around Iran, Ukraine is expanding its defense partnership with Gulf countries

The resumption of negotiations between Iran and the United States is taking place amid high tension, mutual pressure, and harsh warnings. Despite statements about readiness for dialogue, both sides are leaving open the possibility of a forceful scenario if the talks fail. This situation is causing concern among Washington’s allies in the Middle East and is increasing global instability. Against this backdrop, Ukraine is trying not only to respond to external challenges, but also to open new opportunities through security and economic initiatives.

Iran agreed to continue negotiations with the United States after Trump’s threats

Iran decided to return to negotiations with the United States after internal consultations and external pressure. According to international media, a new round of contacts may take place in Islamabad, and previous rounds of such talks on the American side were led by U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance. At the same time, the Pakistani side says it has received positive signals from Tehran regarding participation in new negotiations.

Earlier, the Iranian side had delayed the continuation of the dialogue, while discussions continued inside the country over whether concessions to Washington were advisable. Additional pressure on Tehran was exerted by regional mediators, who urged it not to derail the negotiation process. At the same time, Donald Trump repeatedly made it clear that if diplomacy failed, a resumption of military action was possible. On April 21, he directly saidthat he did not want to prolong the ceasefire with Iran and expected a quick agreement.

Trump said he is ready to meet personally with Iran’s leadership

US President Donald Trump saidthat he is ready for direct negotiations with Iran’s leadership. He emphasized that he sees no problem with such a meeting and is open to diplomatic dialogue.

“I have no problem meeting with them. If they want to meet,” the head of the White House said.

According to Trump, the American delegation has already departed for Islamabad to prepare the negotiation process. He stressed that the key U.S. demand is Iran’s complete renunciation of nuclear weapons.

“Get rid of your nuclear weapons. It’s very simple. There will be no nuclear weapons,” the president said. At the same time, he refused to specify possible consequences if the negotiations fail.

The Gulf countries fear a strengthening of Iran’s influence through negotiations with the United States

In the Gulf countries, concern is growing over the consequences of negotiations between the United States and Iran. Analysts and officials believe that the new format of dialogue could effectively consolidate Tehran’s influence over the Strait of Hormuz, a key route for global oil and gas supplies.

Experts notethat the negotiations are increasingly focused on the nuclear issue and control over the strait, while the problems of missile programs and proxy groups are being pushed into the background. Representatives of the region fear that such an approach could create long-term instability. At the same time, Iran views the Strait of Hormuz as a strategic instrument of influence and deterrence.

Zelensky criticized possible visits by U.S. representatives to Moscow

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky saidthat possible visits by American representatives to Moscow without visiting Kyiv would be a sign of disrespect. He stressed that Ukraine is open to negotiations in any format, but expects equal treatment.

“It is disrespectful to go to Moscow but not come to Kyiv,” the head of state emphasized.

The president also noted that the key problem remains Russia’s unwillingness to end the war. According to him, the fastest path to ending hostilities is to fix the front line and establish a ceasefire. Zelensky emphasized that any concessions without security guarantees are dangerous for Ukraine. He also stressed that the issue of Donbas cannot be resolved through unilateral concessions.

Ukraine is preparing large-scale arms exports under the Drone Deal

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky reportedthat the Drone Deal initiative provides for the conclusion of at least ten agreements on the export of Ukrainian weapons. This concerns not only supplies, but also joint production and the development of new technologies.

According to the president, Ukraine already has long-term agreements with Middle Eastern countries, including the UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar. Several other states in the region, as well as European partners, have also shown interest in cooperation. Zelensky emphasized that this format combines the security component with economic opportunities. He also noted that Ukrainian developments in drones and air defense have become especially relevant against the backdrop of new military threats in the world.
