Zelensky: Ukraine received more than $70 billion worth of weapons from the U.S.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy has stated that the United States has provided Ukraine with military aid worth more than $70 billion. At the same time, the information spread by social media and the media about the US government sending $100-200 billion to Ukraine is not true.

The head of state of Ukraine said this in an interview with the Associated Press.

"I, as the president of a country at war, say that we have received more than $75 billion (in U.S. aid - ed.). That is, we have never received $100 billion of that $177 billion (in U.S. aid - ed.), or even $200 billion, as some say. And this is important, because we are talking about specific things, because we did not receive it in money, but in arms. We received $70 billion worth of weapons," Zelensky said in an interview with the Associated Press.

The president explained that the United States also provided assistance to Ukraine in the form of humanitarian and social programs, military training, exercises, etc.

At the same time, he stressed that the allegations recently spread by certain information sources about the alleged $200 billion in assistance to the Ukrainian army are false.

"This 300-400 million is what the state received as a state for these programs. ... We will close it, with the Europeans or with internal resources," Zelensky said.

According to the head of state, a significant part of humanitarian aid, including $200 million in energy assistance and $100 million in medical programs, was sent directly.

He also emphasized the importance of veterans programs, stressing that they are funded directly by American organizations.

"This is not something we got in the budget, it was direct assistance to these organizations from American organizations," the president said.

Zelenskyy also noted that there are a number of other humanitarian programs in which the state is not directly involved.
