Ukraine and the world: Ceasefire Negotiations, Russia's Influence on the United States, and Russian Disinformation

In Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, the United States and Russia are negotiating a ceasefire in Ukraine, primarily to protect energy infrastructure. In parallel, the possibility of extending the ceasefire to the Black Sea region is being discussed. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy expresses concern about the influence of Russian disinformation on certain American officials and comments on his emotional reaction during his meeting with Donald Trump at the White House.

US and Russia begin talks on ceasefire in Ukraine

US and Russian officials continue talks in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, aimed at securing a limited ceasefire in Ukraine. The talks are focusing on an end to attacks on energy infrastructure, which could be a step towards a lasting peace.

The talks in Riyadh are aimed at reaching an agreement that would include not only the protection of energy infrastructure, but also a ceasefire in the Black Sea to ensure the safety of transport and trade. Both sides have agreed to a limited ceasefire, but a broader agreement remains in question.

These talks are the result of previous discussions between US President Donald Trump and the leaders of Ukraine and Russia. The ultimate goal is a 30-day ceasefire, but the parties still disagree on the terms of the peace.

After separate consultations between Washington and Moscow, Kyiv and the United States agreed to another round of talks in Saudi Arabia. They will focus on expanding the ceasefire zone, energy facilities and humanitarian issues.

Zelenskyy, US officials and Russian disinformation

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said, that some White House officials have been influenced by Russian propaganda and are repeating false claims about the situation on the front lines. In particular, he noted that US President Donald Trump has repeatedly spread false information about the alleged encirclement of Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region. This, he says, raises concerns about the impact of disinformation on decision-making in the United States.

Zelenskyy explains his emotional reaction during meeting with Trump

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented his emotional reaction during a tense meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House in late February. He emphasised that he was defending Ukraine's dignity in this situation, as Ukrainians are very emotional when it comes to their dignity, freedom and democracy. Zelenskyy believes that his actions showed that the United States remained an ally of Ukraine, despite the feeling at the time that the ally's position was not clear.

US aid freeze did not affect operation in Kursk region

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said, that the temporary suspension of US aid did not affect the deterioration of the situation of Ukrainian troops in the Kursk region. He stressed that despite the pause in US assistance, Ukrainian forces continue to fulfil their tasks without any significant changes in the situation at the front.
