Vopli Vidopliassova in Boston: Anniversary Tour Across America in Support of Ukraine

The legendary Ukrainian band Vopli Vidopliassova (VV) delivered a spectacular performance in Boston, Massachusetts, as part of their North American tour marking the 40th anniversary of the group.

This was reported by the event organizers and the band’s frontman, Oleh Skrypka. 

“Their hits – Vesna, Tantsi, Krayina Mriy, and Den Narodzhennya – have become musical symbols of freedom, joy, and national resilience,” noted the organizers.

Emerging from the Soviet underground scene, the band has, over the past four decades, become a voice of Ukrainian identity. VV were the first Ukrainian artists to break into the international music scene, performing at major festivals such as WOMAD, Sziget, and Rock am Ring. Their explosive mix of punk, rock, and folk has resonated with audiences across the globe.

The Boston concert not only brought together the local Ukrainian community and longtime fans but also served a charitable purpose. A portion of the proceeds and all collected donations will go to support “Misto Dobra” (City of Goodness), a charitable organization that assists mothers and children affected by war and violence in Ukraine. The event also featured a Meet & Greet session with the band and a charity auction. 

The tour includes 12 cities, among them Montreal, Toronto, Philadelphia, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, Vancouver, and others. The tour’s motto – From Ukraine to the World – highlights the band’s global mission as cultural ambassadors of Ukraine. On June 27, the legendary band is set to perform in Chicago, followed by upcoming shows on June 28 in Detroit, June 29 in San Francisco, June 30 in Portland, July 1 in Seattle, and July 2 in Vancouver. 30 червня – Портленд, 1 липня – Сієтл та 2 липня – Ванкувер.

“VV returns to America after nearly a decade – once again igniting the stage with energy that fuels faith, hope, and love for Ukraine,” the organizers summed up.
