To celebrate Ukrainian Statehood Day, Bizinka Bakery & Market in Union City, Tennessee, held a charity event. The bakery raised funds to support Jeff Gabbert, an American volunteer who plans to travel to Lviv in the fall to carry out humanitarian and medical missions.
This was reported by Bizinka Bakery.
As part of the event, guests enjoyed traditional Ukrainian dishes, such as borscht, pancakes, homemade honey cake, and desserts decorated with symbols of the United States and Ukraine. Sweet gifts, including cookies with a historical story about Zmiinyi Island, were presented to all generous donors.
According to the organizers, it was a busy day, and they sold 35 servings of borscht, achieving their fundraising goal.
"We don't ask for money just like that. We work so that you can taste our baked goods and, at the same time, help those in need," said Bizinka Bakery.
Part of the funds raised will cover the transportation costs of Jeff Gabbert, a volunteer who will travel to Lviv this fall on a four-week mission to support humanitarian and medical teams. The rest of the funds will purchase urgently needed medical equipment for Ukrainian doctors.
"I know what I'm getting into, and I can't turn away from the suffering of innocent people. They deserve care, dignity, and support,” Gabbert wrote on the fundraising page.
