The foundation has called on Boston residents to join the Citizen Ambassadors for Ukraine initiative and host participants in the program. This is an opportunity to participate in U.S. foreign policy activities through the "People to People Exchange" format, which aims to develop mutual understanding between Americans and young Ukrainian professionals.
This was reported by Ukrainian Boston.
Specifically, from September 12 to 20, a small delegation of Ukrainian specialists in high technology and economic development will be in Boston. The program is implemented in cooperation with the Open World Leadership Center, an independent agency of the U.S. Library of Congress. The program includes educational and cultural events. A key element is Ukrainians staying with American families to establish personal ties.
During their visit, the Ukrainians will participate in a professional program covering topics related to high technology and economic development. There will be a special emphasis on the agreement between the US and Ukraine regarding mineral resources, which is of strategic importance for both countries' future.
The organizers emphasize the importance of public support and encourage those interested in joining the program to contact the coordinators for more information: Christopher Isajiw (cpisajiw@gmail.com) or John A. Kun (jkun@usukraine.org). Participants from Ukraine undergo screening, and hosts receive a personal profile of their guest to help them get to know their guest better.
Background
The Open World Program, now known as the Congressional Office of International Leadership (COIL), began working with Ukraine in 2003. Since then, program participants have come from all regions of Ukraine, including Crimea and the occupied east. Following Russia's large-scale invasion in 2022, Ukraine became COIL's largest program. It now provides the U.S. Congress and other institutions with direct information from the front lines and facilitates connections between Ukrainian veterans, doctors, and politicians with their American counterparts.
The U.S.-Ukraine Foundation is a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization established in 1991. Its mission is to support democracy, free markets, and human rights in Ukraine. As a "do-tank," the foundation implements projects that promote peace and prosperity based on shared democratic values.
