“Close the Skies – Protect Europe”: UCCA Calls on NATO to Establish a No-Fly Zone Over Ukraine

The Ukrainian Congressional Committee of America (UCCA) has issued a statement calling on NATO to establish a no-fly zone over Ukraine. The organization emphasizes that this initiative is not only a humanitarian necessity, but also a key element of the collective security of the European continent.

This was reported by Ukrainian Congressional Committee of America.

“Russian drones and aircraft terrorize Ukrainian cities every day – tomorrow it could be Warsaw or Vilnius,” the UCCA statement said.

The UCCA calls for considering the option of a limited no-fly zone over Western Ukraine. Such a step, in their opinion, would allow NATO to intercept drones before they reach Alliance territory, create a buffer zone for Poland, Romania and Slovakia, and strengthen Europe’s collective defense.

The organization recalls that no-fly zones have already demonstrated effectiveness in the past - in Bosnia, Libya and Iraq.

“Each time the world said: “Never again”. Ukraine deserves the same protection,” the statement says.

The UCCA also emphasizes that the impunity of aggression stimulates its further expansion. In particular, in September 2025 alone, at least 19 Russian drones crossed the airspace of Poland. There were also suspicions of UAV penetration into Germany and the Netherlands.

In addition, the organization calls on Ukrainians in the United States to engage in civic activism - to contact the White House and demand concrete action.

“It is time to act! It is time to close the skies over Ukraine to protect the innocent,” reads the text of a sample appeal, which the UCCA asks to be transmitted by calling the White House switchboard.

The UCCA is convinced that “peace through strength” means supporting Ukraine, protecting democracy, and saving civilian lives.
