Bellevue hosted the “Largest Cheesecake Brunch in Washington State in Support of the Armed Forces”

A large-scale culinary and charity event “The Largest Cheesecake Brunch in Washington State” was held in Bellevue, Washington, organized by the Girls Meet Girls volunteer community. The event combined a culinary master class, a fair of Ukrainian products, and a large tasting brunch - all funds raised will be directed to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

This was reported by the Girls Meet Girls community, volunteer Alla Svystun, “SYRNYK” bakery.

The event, which took place at Arras Apartments, combined culinary master classes, cheese tasting, and a charity fair. Thus, the charity cheesecake day began with a culinary master class. The volunteers prepared 28 aprons and handkerchiefs for the participants, who learned how to make homemade cheesecakes, and after that, each of those present received her own package of cheesecakes to take home.

Later, a large brunch started. On Guests were treated to tastings of four types of cheesecakes, the legendary Lviv cheesecake 1.5 meters long and weighing almost 10 kg, cheesecakes, pancakes, cheese pies and other dishes.

“The author of the event is my incredible young colleague Polina – a virtuoso in making cheesecakes and more. We fried four types of cheesecakes – classic, with raisins, chocolate and in cuttlefish ink. Black cheesecakes are a symbol of the black pain of war, but also a tribute to history, because cuttlefish was served at the table of Ukrainian hetmans,” said Alla Svystun.

It was also noted that the work on preparing for the event lasted for more than a week. More than 75 kg of homemade cheese from the milk of Jersey cows were processed to prepare more than a thousand cheesecakes and hundreds of pancakes. The milk was delivered from the Twin Brook Creamery farm, and a special sourdough was brought from Canada.

In addition to treats, visitors could purchase Ukrainian jewelry, books, decorative toys, souvenirs, board games and Christmas gifts at the charity fair, and of course, homemade products with cheesecakes and pancakes.

“You could buy pancakes, smoked pears, Olivier, vinaigrette, toy dumplings, jewelry, books. You could find anything you like,” said Yulia Rybnikova, a participant in the event.

All funds raised from the brunch and fair will be doubled thanks to the partnership with UDS and transferred to the needs of Ukrainian defenders.

“We cooked, bought, played – it was a real folk festival, and also a cheesecake festival, which means it is unique. Because nowhere in the world do they prepare cheesecakes the way Ukrainians do,” added Alla Svystun.
