A charity concert by the band "Vatra" was held in Chicago, during which it was possible to raise 10 thousand dollars in support of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The event was held in the Ukrainian village and, in addition to helping the Ukrainian military, was dedicated to the memory of the victims of the Holodomor
This is reported by the Ukrainian publication "Surma" and the organizers of the event, the Ukrainian Daughters Foundation. «Сурма» та організатори події Ukrainian Daughters Foundation.
The evening began with a minute of silence in honor of the victims of the Holodomor and all those who died from Russian aggression. A special part of the event was the presence of Ukrainian military personnel undergoing rehabilitation thanks to the Protez Foundation - the audience greeted the defenders standing.
As reported, the concert consisted of covers, original compositions and instrumental accompaniment. The songs of the Ukrainian pop music of the 2000s and modern works were performed, complemented by the sound of the sopilka and harmonica. The participants emphasized that for the Vatra band, this performance was another step in the mission of cultural support for Ukraine.
“We don’t just play – we create a space where culture becomes resistance,” the musicians say.
It was also noted that after the concert part, a SARAT Music DJ set took place, which became the traditional end of the event.
The Vatra band was created in 2023 and has been holding charity performances and cultural events aimed at supporting the Ukrainian military since then. Currently, the group consists of seven members: Oleksandr and Oleksandra Kovalchuk, Alina Vitvitska, Diana Gladka, Zoryana Smozhanyk, Roman Hlyva and Andriy Bondarenko. Since its founding, the band has already accumulated 42 thousand dollars for the needs of the Ukrainian army.
Among the band’s initiatives, the organizers separately note the musical performance “Confession of Ukrainian Daughters”, created together with the Ukrainian Daughters Foundation, as well as charity auctions. One of the most valuable lots of the latter was a gift from the band "DakhaBrakha" - a limited edition record.
