Sunflower Society провело щомісячний мітинг підтримки України біля Капітолію

In Sacramento, the Ukrainian community of California gathered for another monthly rally near the Capitol to express solidarity with Ukraine, support its defenders and call on American lawmakers to take further action.

This was reported by the co-founder of The Sunflower Society Olga Noshyn.

“About 100 people gathered for the Ukrainian rally near the California State Capitol on a cold Saturday evening, January 24, 2026. Volunteers and supporters of the Sunflower Society brought posters and flags to express solidarity and support for Ukraine. A special guest from Ukraine – Chaplain Vasyl Povoroznyuk – addressed the participants with words of gratitude for their strength and perseverance and urged them to continue to support Ukraine,” said Olga Noshyn.

As reported, the event was held with the participation of volunteers and supporters of the Sunflower Society. The special guest of the rally was the military chaplain from Ukraine Vasyl Povoroznyuk, who addressed those present with words of gratitude and an appeal not to stop supporting Ukraine.

“On the 24th of every month, for 4 years in a row without any gaps or pauses in the capital of California, Sacramento, pro-Ukrainian activists hold rallies in front of the State Capitol in support of Ukraine. They gather to donate to the needs of various brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, remind through loudspeakers about the prisoners, make mandatory calls directly from the place of the rallies to state congressmen: Republicans and Democrats in support of Ukraine… Not only citizens of Ukraine who have long left Ukraine gather, but also Americans, Russians and Russian-speaking immigrants from the former republics of the USSR,” Vasyl Povoroznyuk commented on the event.

It was also noted that the chaplain presented the participants with a flag signed by the families of fallen Ukrainian heroes and prisoners of war.

“He voiced the dream we all share – that no more new signatures would appear on such flags,” Noshyn’s post notes.

During the rally, Ukrainian public figure and educational activist Nancy Fisher from the “Yolo for Ukraine” organization also gave a meaningful speech. The event participants called congressmen from CA-03, CA-04, and CA-06 districts with a request to support Ukraine and relevant legislative initiatives.

Stefan Scotts concluded the event with a joint prayer for Ukraine’s victory and the protection of its soldiers.

The organizers also expressed their gratitude for the charitable fundraiser for hand warmers for the Ukrainian military, initiated by a volunteer from Kyiv, Iryna Sydorenko.

“Thanks to your help, we managed to raise $895. Simple hand warmers in severe frosts can save the lives of Ukrainian defenders on the front lines,” the organizer noted.

At the end of the rally, participants formed a circle, holding hands, in honor of the Day of Unity of Ukraine, which is celebrated on January 22.
