Ukrainian Rescuers Set Records at the World Firefighter Challenge Championship in the U.S.

From October 21 to 26, the World Firefighter Challenge Championship 2024 is underway in Nashville, Tennessee. Among the participants are rescuers from Ukraine’s State Emergency Service (SES). The firefighters set several world records across various categories, including men’s and women’s relays.

This was reported на Firefighter Challenge Championship Series.

On October 25, a five-person international team, which included Ukrainian firefighter Oleksandr Baran, set a new world record, completing the relay in an impressive time of 1:13.45 in the 40+ category.

On October 24, Oleksandr Baran set another world record. During the competition, he and Florida colleague Mackenzie Briggs completed the male tandem distance in a remarkable 1:09.91 in the 40-44 age category.

Earlier, on the first day of the event, a team of nine rescuers set two world records — a team relay record in the under-40 category with a time of 1:07.70, and a women's relay record in the under-40 category at 1:33.89.

The TFT Firefighter Challenge Series, known as “the toughest two minutes in sports,” is a SERVPRO FCL: Firefighter Challenge League event. The SERVPRO FCL League hosts up to eight classic competitions annually, culminating in the world championship in October. Elite firefighters from around the world compete against one another — and against the clock.

Competitors complete a skills course known as the LION Arena of the Brave, where they face five main challenges: high-rise pack carry, hose movement, forcible entry, water spray, and victim rescue. The winner in each category is the one with the best time.
