A memorial event took place at Times Square in New York to honor journalists who lost their lives covering Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
This was reported by the organization Svitanok.nyc.
“Every story written, every frame captured in this horrific war has served as evidence of Russia's terror. Journalists, risking their lives in conflict zones, have shown the world Ukraine's fight for freedom, independence, truth, and democracy. These courageous individuals died for the truth, and it is our duty to continue their mission to expose Russia's crimes and combat propaganda”, emphasized Svitanok.nyc, highlighting the bravery of the fallen journalists.
Participants in the event called for remembrance of Ukrainian and international media workers who died for the truth. According to activists, since the start of Russia’s full-scale invasion, 637 crimes have been committed against media representatives in Ukraine. Over 100 journalists have been killed, 14 are missing, and 29 Ukrainians have been imprisoned in Russia.
“We must be the voice of every journalist still risking their lives for justice. Let’s amplify their message here in America, so it can be heard" the organizers stressed.
