During the evening, guests enjoyed performances by well-known stars, including opera singer Stefan Shkafarovsky, pianist Lyubov Shmotolokha, who moved to New York after the full-scale war in Ukraine and now accompanies the Ukrainian choir Dumka, singer Valeria Vovk, and DJ Daria Kolomiets, who created the War Diary podcast and brought real-life stories of Ukrainians at war to U.S. theater stages.
Special attention was given to the photo exhibition of journalist Allan Mestel, who has been published by leading media outlets such as USA Today, CNN, NBC, and PBS. His exhibition reflected the devastating impact of the war on Ukrainian towns and villages.
The awards ceremony honored United Help Ukraine's partners and volunteers for their significant contributions to the relief efforts in Ukraine. Speakers called for continued support for the Ukrainian people and emphasized the importance of international solidarity.
The event also included an auction where guests were able to contribute to the cause and purchase unique items.
United Help Ukraine was founded in 2014 in Gaithersburg, Maryland, with the primary mission of providing humanitarian aid to the people of Ukraine and their defenders.
"After 10 years of helping people and saving lives, our promise remains the same: like the brave people of Ukraine, we will never give up or stop our efforts. Our mission is vital, and there is so much more to do to help build a sustainable, prosperous and independent future for Ukraine," the organization said.
United Help Ukraine will also host another memorable gala in Washington, DC on September 28.
