Ukrainian Congressional Committee of America to Celebrate 85th Anniversary

On May 3, New York will celebrate the 85th anniversary of the Ukrainian Congressional Committee of America, an organization that has represented the interests of the Ukrainian community in the United States and supported an independent Ukraine for over eight decades.

This is reported in a press release from the Ukrainian Congressional Committee of America.

“For 85 years, the Ukrainian Congressional Committee of America has been the voice of Ukrainian Americans; it has defended the interests of the community in government circles, informing society and mobilizing unwavering support for a strong, independent and democratic Ukraine,” the statement said.

As reported, the organization was founded in 1940, at the height of World War II. It united Ukrainians in the United States into a nationwide community to represent their interests in the public and political life of the country. Today, the mission of the UCCA remains relevant, as Ukraine continues to defend its sovereignty and territorial integrity in the war against Russia.

It was also noted that the celebration will take place on Sunday, May 3, from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the Elsie Rooftop restaurant in New York. The program will include a cocktail reception, musical performances and speeches dedicated to the history of the organization and its role in supporting Ukraine.

In particular, the guests will be treated to a performance by singer Valeria Vovk accompanied by guitarist Michel Romeo, as well as jazz compositions by the “Markiian Krysa Jazz Quartet”.

“This event is more than an anniversary. It is a celebration of resilience, unity and a common goal,” the message emphasizes.

According to the organizers, the funds raised during the event will be directed to humanitarian programs in Ukraine, as well as to support Ukrainian communities in the United States.

“The 85th anniversary is an opportunity to once again demonstrate solidarity with Ukraine while shaping the next chapter of UCCA’s work in the United States,” the organization concluded.
