UNWLA Announces Two Scholarships for Students of Ukrainian Descent in the U.S.

The Ukrainian National Women’s League of America (UNWLA) has announced the opening of applications for two scholarship programs for students of Ukrainian descent in the United States — the VOVK Foundation Scholarship and the UNWLA Eva Staszkiw Memorial Scholarship. Applications are open until June 30.

This was reported Ukrainian National Women’s League of America (UNWLA).

The organization emphasized that the scholarships aim to support a new generation of Ukrainian leaders, scholars, artists, and professionals across various fields.

The VOVK Foundation Scholarship, established in partnership with the VOVK Foundation supports students of Ukrainian descent studying in fields such as engineering, law, physical and natural sciences, medicine, business, music, and the arts.

According to the foundation, the initiative is intended to support students, entrepreneurs, engineers, and researchers amid Russia’s aggression against Ukraine.

“The Vovk Foundation has established a permanent scholarship for students of Ukrainian descent studying technology, engineering, arts, and the humanities,” the program description states.

One selected student will receive $4,000 to cover educational expenses. Eligible applicants include students of Ukrainian descent, including Ukrainian Americans, who have completed at least one year of study at an accredited U.S. university, are enrolled full-time, and have a GPA of no less than 3.5.

UNWLA is also continuing to accept applications for the Eva Staszkiw Memorial Scholarship. This program is aimed at supporting Ukrainian studies and promoting knowledge of Ukrainian culture, history, language, and literature. The scholarship description notes that Eva Staszkiw was an active member of UNWLA and supported the development of Ukrainian studies in the United States.

“We need young, educated people capable of sharing the truth about Ukraine everywhere,” organizers quote Eva Staszkiw as saying.

One student will receive $3,000 to cover educational expenses. The program is open to students enrolled in U.S. colleges or universities who are studying subjects related to Ukrainian culture, history, language, or literature.

All applications must be submitted by June 30 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time. Applicants will be notified of the results by August 31.

To apply, candidates must submit a completed application, short essays, a resume, a letter of recommendation, and provide an academic transcript or proof of enrollment through the official program pages: VOVK Foundation Scholarship and UNWLA Eva Staszkiw Memorial Scholarship.

Organizers emphasized that these scholarship programs are part of UNWLA’s broader mission to support Ukrainian education, culture, and community development in the United States.
