The annual “Palos Fest 2026” took place in Palos Park, near Chicago, continuing its tradition as a beloved celebration of the Ukrainian community at the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish. This year, the festival introduced a new format, placing children and youth at the center of the celebration as they showcased their talents on the main stage.

More than 60 young performers from Ukrainian communities across the Chicago area participated in the festival, while over 300 guests attended the event. For many of the children, it was their first opportunity to perform before such a large audience. The young artists sang Ukrainian songs, danced, and shared their creativity, combining their love for Ukrainian culture with Christian values.
The festive atmosphere was enriched by a traditional Ukrainian marketplace, authentic Ukrainian cuisine, live musical performances, and the majestic sound of the trembita. Throughout the day, the parish grounds became a gathering place for Ukrainian families, filled with a spirit of unity, mutual support, and a strong sense of community preserving its traditions far from its homeland.
The organizers noted that the festival was made possible through the joint efforts of the clergy, parishioners, volunteers, mentors, benefactors, and sponsors. Their support made it possible not only to organize a large-scale celebration but also to create a space where children can develop their talents, strengthen their connection to Ukrainian culture, and grow in an atmosphere of warmth and community.
“Palos Fest 2026” once again demonstrated that Ukrainian communities in the United States actively support the younger generation, preserve their spiritual and cultural traditions, and create opportunities for children to grow while uniting Ukrainians around shared values and a love for their heritage.
