The United States and Ukraine are working together on a roadmap for post-war power generation

The United States and Ukraine are working together on a roadmap for post-war power generation. The new energy system will include safe nuclear energy technologies and renewable energy sources. This was reported by US Energy Secretary Jennifer Granholm in an interview with Reuters.

She noted that Ukraine's future energy system could include micro reactors, small modular reactors (SMRs), and solar and wind power with batteries. Granholm also added that new nuclear capacity could be part of the future energy system.

In January, Ukraine's energy ministry announced plans to build four nuclear reactors at the Khmelnytsky nuclear power plant. Ukraine's Energoatom signed an agreement with Westinghouse to build the new reactors.

In April, Energoatom and Holtec International signed an agreement to create facilities in Ukraine for the production and manufacture of nuclear systems, structures and components for small modular reactors.
