On August 24, 2024, Chicago hosted a major event in honor of Ukraine's Independence Day. The celebration included a large public gathering and a symbolic human chain. The event was organized by the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America, Illinois Chapter.

"We thank Bishop Venedikt Aleksiychuk for the prayer of remembrance and all the priests... The emotions are overwhelming. Our community in Chicago is a power! And beauty! And sacrifice! And gratitude to every defender of Ukraine", said Maria Klimchak.
