The Ukrainian Paralympic Team has successfully completed its performance at the 2024 Paralympic Games. The results of the competition confirmed the high level of training of Ukrainian athletes, their determination and ability to succeed on the world stage.
On the last day of the competition, powerlifter Anton Kryukov won a silver medal in the 107 kg category.
Vladyslav Yepifanov (canoe single, 200m, class VL3) also won gold, setting a Paralympic record, and Marina Mazhula (kayak single, 200m, class KL1) won silver.
During the 11 days of competition, Ukrainian Paralympians won 82 medals: 22 gold, 8 silver and 32 bronze. In the overall medals table, Ukraine ranked 7th in gold medals and 5th in total medals.
The Ukrainian national team was represented by a record number of 140 athletes who competed in 17 sports. Swimming and athletics were the most popular sports, with Ukrainians repeatedly making it to the podium. For the first time in the country's history, the team won a medal in the team sport of goalball.
Swimmer Andriy Trusov brought home the most medals for Ukraine with 5, including 2 gold and 3 silver. In total, 20 Ukrainian Paralympians became multi-medalists at the 2024 Paralympics, although in some sports the possibility of winning multiple medals was limited.
Ukraine's medals by sport:
- Swimming: 40 medals (8 gold, 15 silver, 17 bronze),
- Athletics: 19 medals (8 gold, 6 silver, 5 bronze),
- Judo: 5 medals (3 gold, 2 silver),
- Table tennis: 4 medals (1 gold, 1 silver, 2 bronze),
- Kayaking and canoeing: 3 medals (1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze),
- Cycling: 3 medals (1 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze),
- Fencing: 3 medals (1 silver, 2 bronze),
- Powerlifting: 2 medals (1 silver, 1 bronze),
- Goalball: 1 medal (silver),
- Rowing: 1 medal (silver),
- Boccia: 1 medal (bronze).
Athletes who win medals at the Paralympic Games are entitled to cash prizes:
- Gold medal - 125 thousand dollars,
- Silver medal - 80 thousand dollars,
- Bronze medal - 55 thousand dollars
