Colorful event in Newton: 4K for Ukraine Color Run raises funds for medical aid to Ukrainians

Newton, Massachusetts hosted the annual 4K for Ukraine Color Run, a race full of color and cheer organized by Excel Gymnastics and Climbing Center. All funds raised during the charity race will go to support the organization "Sunflower of Peace", which provides medical and humanitarian aid to Ukrainians and is based in Boston.

This was reported by the organizers of the event, Excel Gymnastics and Climbing.

"It was a perfect day for 4K for Ukraine! Thank you all for coming, supporting, running, walking, donating and volunteering," the organizers said.

"For the third year in a row, Excel Gymnastics has chosen Sunflower of Peace as the charity to raise funds for, and we are extremely grateful for their continued support! All funds raised will go toward our mission of helping Ukrainian doctors and people in need," the organization said.

All participants in the race also had the opportunity to win a week at summer camp, a birthday party and other prizes.

Last year's event drew more than 100 enthusiastic runners who, along with organizers, raised an impressive $7,720, which was donated to Sunflower of Peace.

Background Sunflower of Peace is a Boston-based nonprofit organization founded in 2014 to help those affected by Russian aggression in Ukraine. They provide necessary equipment to health care workers, support orphanages and organizations for people with disabilities, and sponsor training programs for Ukrainian doctors. Following the Russian invasion in 2022, Sunflower of Peace focused on providing tactical medical aid and humanitarian assistance.
