The Ukrainian Catholic National Church of the Holy Family in Washington, D.C., held a solemn Divine Liturgy on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the parish uniting the Ukrainian community. The liturgy was presided over by Metropolitan Archbishop Borys Gudziak, and the event was attended by Deputy Head of the Ukrainian Diplomatic Mission in the United States Denys Senyk and representatives of the Ukrainian Embassy.
This was reported by the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States.
This parish was founded in 1949 by a small group of Ukrainian families and eventually became a spiritual center for thousands of Ukrainians in the United States. Holy Family Church has become an important place for strengthening faith, unity and promoting Ukrainian heritage in Washington, DC.
Over the years, the parish has hosted many prominent guests, including Pope John Paul II, U.S. President Ronald Reagan, and Patriarch Sviatoslav Shevchuk.
The Embassy of Ukraine noted the church's important role as a spiritual center and symbol of support for Ukraine.
"Today, as we celebrate the 75th anniversary, we express our deep gratitude to the clergy who have tirelessly served this community, as well as to all the parishioners who have preserved and enriched this holy place. Thank you for your continued support of Ukraine during this difficult time, serving not only as a spiritual center but also as a powerful advocate for Ukraine's resilience," the embassy added.
