The charity event "Didukh & Devotion: Celebrating Culture, Supporting Kids" charity event was held in Washington, D.C. to help children from Ukrainian orphanages affected by the war. In addition to drawing attention to the problems of children from Ukrainian orphanages and raising funds for their psychological support, guests had the opportunity to participate in the creation of didukh, one of the traditional elements of Ukrainian culture.
This was reported by Ukraine House.
"We are grateful to everyone who contributed to this important cause. Thanks to our joint efforts, we are helping to shape the future of Ukraine by taking care of its youngest and most vulnerable citizens," the organizers said.
The event was organized by Ukraine House in cooperation with the Ukraine Volya Foundation (UVF) and with the support of the Ukrainian restaurant RUTA.
Since the purpose of the event was to draw attention to the problems of children from Ukrainian orphanages and to raise funds for their psychological support, the guests had the opportunity to learn about UVF's initiatives aimed at improving the emotional and mental state of children affected by the war. In particular, Natalia Vetrova shared her experience of working with children and spoke about the importance of psychological rehabilitation under the guidance of the Ukrainian Volya Foundation.
Thanks to the contributions of caring participants, the event raised enough money to fund three months of individual therapy for 15 children from Ukrainian orphanages.
In addition to its charitable purpose, the event was a true celebration of Ukrainian culture. Guests made didukhas, a traditional symbol of harvest and prosperity, learned about Ukrainian Christmas traditions, enjoyed the sounds of the bandura played by Maria Bogomolova, and tasted Ukrainian cuisine.
The event left an unforgettable impression on the participants and became a vivid example of the unity of culture, kindness and common purpose to support Ukrainian children during a difficult time for the country.
