Christmas Eve in Los Angeles: Ukrainian Community Celebrates Christmas with Prayer, Carols and Charity

On Christmas Eve in Los Angeles, December 24, the Ukrainian diaspora and immigrants gathered at St. Andrew's Church to celebrate Christmas Eve in the best traditions of Ukrainian culture.

This was reported by St. Andrew Ukrainian Orthodox Church of Los Angeles.

The celebration began at 5:00 p.m. with a Christmas Eve service in the church, followed by a communal Holy Communion. Participants enjoyed the unforgettable atmosphere of a quiet Christmas Eve, sampling the traditional 12 meatless dishes and listening to the melodious singing of hymns and Christmas carols.

The evening was decorated with performances of the singer Vsyudysvoya, the Blagovist church choir and students of the Educational and Spiritual Center, who sang carols and wished the audience peace and happiness. The highlight of the event was the Nativity scene, which revived the spirit of the Ukrainian Christmas.

In addition to the festivities, Stand With Ukraine held a charity auction to raise funds to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Items included perfume in tubes, a didukh, and T-shirts.
