Donald Trump, Ukraine, religious disputes: a prayer breakfast was held in Washington, DC

The annual National Prayer Breakfast, which traditionally gathers congressmen, senators, world leaders and representatives of religious communities, took place in the US capital, Washington, D.C. This year's event, held at the Hilton Hotel, attracted special attention because of the speech of US President Donald Trump, who mentioned Ukraine several times in his speech.

This was reported live by the Voice of America.

The Prayer Breakfast has been held in the United States since 1953 and is traditionally a platform for politicians, businessmen and spiritual leaders to pray together. It is considered one of the most important events of the year for conservative circles and religious communities. This year's breakfast brought together more than 3,000 participants from 120 countries. And the current U.S. president is a regular attendee.

In particular, Trump touched on the topic of international relations in his speech, including the war in Ukraine. He reiterated that the Russian invasion would not have happened under his presidency and stressed that his administration is now actively working to resolve this issue and has made significant progress in ending the war. However, he did not provide any details about actual steps in this direction.

There are also no clear statements about further US support for Ukraine. Donald Trump did not announce his intention to supply Ukraine with weapons, but instead actively talks about negotiations with Russia and finding ways to end the war.

The event was attended by a delegation from Ukraine, including former President Petro Poroshenko, former Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko, members of parliament, activists and representatives of religious communities.

However, the event was not without controversy. Among the invited guests were representatives of the Russian clergy who openly supported Russian aggression against Ukraine. This caused indignation among the Ukrainian delegation, which organized a protest expressing its disagreement with the participation of Russian church leaders in the event.
