San Diego Pysanka Festival 2025: Reviving Easter Traditions in the Heart of California

The United Nations Association Hall of Nations in San Diego hosted the annual Pysanka Festival, organized by the House of Ukraine. The event brought together hundreds of guests who had a unique opportunity to learn about the art of Easter egg painting, its cultural and spiritual significance, and to create their own Easter masterpieces.

This was reported House of Ukraine.

The festival lasted five hours and offered visitors a varied program. Local artists presented their works, revealed the secrets of Easter egg making techniques, and held master classes. Among them were Natalia Gebet, whose works are represented in museums and private collections around the world, Orysia Barua, who presented spring paintings and festive decorations, and Linda Mudlo, who not only creates Easter eggs, but also sells the necessary materials for their production. Olenka Kleban, who demonstrated traditional methods of dyeing Easter eggs with natural dyes and how to make vytynanky, a technique of engraving eggs, attracted special attention.

At the festival, visitors could see an exhibition of old and modern Easter eggs, buy original works, tools and souvenirs. For the youngest visitors there was a children's area where they could try their hand at painting eggs.

The organizers emphasized that the festival is aimed not only at popularizing Ukrainian culture, but also at supporting the traditions of the Ukrainian diaspora in the United States.

Admission to the event was free, and everyone had the opportunity to feel the spirit of Ukrainian Easter by participating in the ancient art of Easter egg painting.
