Washington, D.C., hosted a celebration of the 11th anniversary of United Help Ukraine, a humanitarian organization that has become one of the world's strongest partners in support of Ukraine. For more than a decade, UHU volunteers have provided millions of dollars in aid to Ukraine's military, medical personnel, and war victims, ranging from individual first aid kits to psychological rehabilitation for soldiers.
This was reported by the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States.
Representatives of the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States participated in the celebration of the 11th anniversary of United Help Ukraine (UHU), an organization that has been supporting the Ukrainian people in their time of need for over a decade.
On behalf of Ambassador of Ukraine Oksana Markarova, Deputy Chief of Mission Denys Siienik welcomed the participants of the event. He expressed his sincere gratitude to United Help Ukraine for its unwavering solidarity with Ukraine, for numerous humanitarian, medical and military aid projects, support for wounded soldiers, cultural initiatives and advocacy efforts.
According to the diplomat, in 11 years, United Help Ukraine has grown from a small group of volunteers to an influential NGO recognized not only in the United States but around the world. Thanks to their hard work, lives have been saved, significant assistance has been provided to victims of the war, and the issue of support for Ukraine has remained on the agenda of the American public.
Special words of gratitude were directed to Maryna Baidyuk, the head of United Help Ukraine, who heads the organization.
"We are grateful to have such a reliable and effective partner who is always by our side here in Washington," said the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States.
Background United Help Ukraine (UHU) was founded in 2014 in Washington, D.C., by activists who came together at rallies in support of Ukraine. The organization's mission is to help Ukrainians in times of war, and to protect and restore the country's sovereignty. Over the years, the organization has become an important partner to the Ukrainian people.
The key areas of United Help Ukraine's work include supporting Ukrainian defenders by providing tactical medical supplies, protective equipment and training, as well as providing medicines and equipment to state and military hospitals. The organization accompanies wounded soldiers, covers their medical expenses, etc. Much attention is also paid to supporting the mental health of military and civilian personnel by training psychologists and establishing rehabilitation centers.
After a missile attack on the Okhmatdyt Children's Hospital in Kyiv in July 2024, the organization delivered aid to the site within hours. In May of the same year, UHU, along with partners in Düsseldorf, Germany, donated medical equipment and fire and rescue equipment to Kharkiv.
The organization's Tactical Medicine Program has delivered more than 60,000 individual first aid kits (IFAKs) to the Ukrainian military and rescue workers over the past 10 years. Last year alone, UHU's medical program provided Ukrainian hospitals with more than $1.2 million worth of equipment and supplies, and over the course of its operations, the total has exceeded $11.8 million.
The organization is a co-founder of the American Coalition for Ukraine (ACU) and actively participates in the Ukraine Action Summit. In addition, United Help Ukraine conducts information campaigns, charity concerts and cultural events to raise public awareness of Ukraine's needs.
In April 2025, Maryna Baidyuk, President of United Help Ukraine, was awarded the Order of Merit III degree by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy for her significant contribution to the country.
