At the City Club of Cleveland, the forum “Ukraine: Prospects for Peace and the Future of a Sovereign Nation,” organized by the United Ukrainian Organizations of Ohio together with Monday Morning Minyan, convened to discuss the current state of the war, pathways to cease hostilities, and the building of a lasting peace. The event brought together leading experts in security, international relations, and members of the Ukrainian diaspora.
This was reported by City Club of Cleveland.
According to the City Club of Cleveland, Professor Elliott Cohen of Johns Hopkins University highlighted the fluidity of the front lines and observed
“Most wars usually end in an unexpected collapse, and predicting their conclusion is a risky endeavor.” He argued that Ukraine still holds “enough cards,” even if some politicians fail to see them.
In her remarks, former U.S. Deputy Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labor Paulina Dobrianska described the conflict as a “quiet shift in the world order” and called for active dialogue between the West and Kyiv to establish postwar security guarantees.

The forum was moderated by Karina van Vliet, Executive Director of the Cleveland Council on World Affairs, who steered the discussion to address both strategic considerations and humanitarian challenges facing Ukraine.
Following the presentations by Cohen and Dobrianska, a lively question-and-answer session allowed local leaders, diplomats, and NGO representatives to raise issues of continued support for Ukraine’s economic reconstruction and the reintegration of displaced persons.
Organizers noted that this forum is only the first in a series of events intended to inform the American public and guide policy decisions in support of Ukraine.
