In Newtown, Pennsylvania, the second annual charity run Run for Ukraine took place in the picturesque Tyler State Park, organized by Revived Soldiers Ukraine to support severely wounded Ukrainian veterans. The event brought together the Ukrainian community of Philadelphia, Americans, military personnel, and families with children—gathering over 120 participants who ran to raise funds for the medical treatment of Ukrainian heroes in both the U.S. and Ukraine.
This was reported Revived Soldiers Ukraine.
Among the event’s most honored guests were Ukrainian defenders Oleksandr Chumak (128th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade), Dmytro Nyshchyk (42nd Mechanized Brigade), and Valentyn Harbovskyi (25th Airborne Brigade), who lost limbs in combat. They completed the 5K distance in wheelchairs, supporting each other along the way and moving the crowd to tears and applause. They were joined by Andriy Nasada, participating in the run for the second time.
“I’ve said it before, but I’ll say it again—these guys truly inspire me. Especially on days when it’s hard to keep going, their resilience, determination, and dedication are a powerful reminder that there are no limits to how much we can grow, support one another, and stand shoulder to shoulder with Ukraine in its fight against evil,” said participant Nataliya DeMarco.
The run also featured the presence of Vasyl Matviychuk, a Beijing Olympian, multiple-time champion of Ukraine, and Revived Soldiers Ukraine manager in Florida. He traveled from Orlando for the second time to participate in Run for Ukraine—and won the overall 5K race.
The organizers thoughtfully structured the event for everyone: a morning start with a wheelchair-accessible route for veterans, a 5K race for runners and walkers, a 1-mile walk, and a fun 0.5-mile kids’ run.
“This is not just a sporting event—it’s a declaration of resilience and humanity,” the organizers emphasized.
Supporters could also join virtually and donate to the cause, while all registered participants received commemorative Run for Ukraine T-shirts.
The event was made possible thanks to the efforts of dedicated volunteers and organizers, including Alex Galina Slobodyan, Rada Dubashinsky, Nataliya DeMarco, Oleksandr Dishchuk, Viktoria Singalevych, Maria MostArt, and Maryana Kozak. Partner organizations included Royal Transportation Services, Ukrainian Selfreliance FCU, and AAA Distributor.
All funds raised will go toward medical aid for Ukrainian soldiers undergoing rehabilitation in Ukraine and the United States.
