Holy Ascension Parish in New Jersey Celebrates Its Centennial

In Clifton, New Jersey, the parish of the Ukrainian Orthodox Holy Ascension Church held its annual festival dedicated to the parish’s 100th anniversary. The event brought together local communities and guests with a program that combined concerts, children’s performances, and charitable initiatives.

This was reported by Ukrainian Orthodox Holy Ascension Church.

The festival began with a joint prayer and blessing, followed by a vibrant outdoor program. Visitors enjoyed live vocal and dance performances, traditional Ukrainian cuisine, and took part in fundraising efforts to support Ukraine’s defenders. The event was organized by the Ukrainian Orthodox Holy Ascension Church.

The celebration featured performances by local groups and soloists, as well as children from the Nykyfor Hirniak Ukrainian Heritage School. Teachers prepared performances, students showcased their talents on stage, and the school as a whole raised charitable contributions to support its educational programs.

“We are sincerely grateful to everyone for their generous donations in support of our Heritage School. Your love and support are our greatest value!” the school community commented.

The festival also became a platform for philanthropy. The Our Organizing Ukraine Relief Foundation thanked the parish for a generous $5,000 contribution made during the event and reported an additional $1,608 raised in donations from attendees. These funds will go toward producing customized prosthetics, rehabilitation, and supporting the reintegration of veterans into civilian life.

“I can’t help but share the emotions and atmosphere of our annual festival. This year it is special—we are celebrating the 100th anniversary of our parish. So much work, dedication, and heartfelt energy! I am most proud of our youth—their initiative, self-organization, and inspiration. They played, sang, and even danced,” said organizer Nataliya Holchuk, emphasizing the importance of youth participation and teamwork.

Organizers stressed that the centennial festival was not only a festive concert but also an opportunity to unite the community, recognize the contributions of volunteers and educators, and support vital humanitarian initiatives. Parish representatives and attendees highlighted the high level of preparation, active youth involvement, and the warm, family-like atmosphere that filled the day.
