The Ukrainian Congressional Committee of America (UCCA) has issued a statement sharply criticizing US Vice President J.D. Vance’s statements on the termination of US funding for Ukraine and calling on the Donald Trump administration to reconsider its policy of cutting off support for Kyiv. The Committee stressed that such a position is not only wrong, but also dangerous in the face of ongoing Russian aggression.
This was reported in a statement by the Ukrainian Congressional Committee of America.
“To boast about the termination of critical support for a state under continuous attack means turning away from the victims of war, encouraging the aggressor, and undermining the moral authority of the United States on the world stage,” the statement said.
The reason for the reaction was reportedly J.D. Vance’s recent remarks at the Turning Point USA event in Georgia on April 14. During his speech, he said that one of the decisions he is most proud of in the current administration is the cessation of American funding of the war in Ukraine and the US refusal to purchase and send weapons to Kyiv.
It is also noted that the UCCA regarded such rhetoric as a dangerous signal not only for Ukraine, but also for the entire democratic world. The statement emphasizes that this is not about neutrality, but about the actual encouragement of further Russian aggression and the undermining of trust in the United States as an ally.
“This rhetoric reflects a disturbing and unacceptable rapprochement with narratives that are beneficial to the genocidal regime of Russia. It signals to the world that this administration is ready to abandon those who fight for freedom and democracy, effectively rewarding violence, repression and territorial annexation. Such a position is not neutrality, but a “green light” for further atrocities,” the statement emphasizes.
In its statement, the UCCA calls on J.D. Vance to retract his words and apologize for them, and the US administration to immediately reverse the policy that weakens support for Ukraine.
The statement also mentions a Reagan Institute poll, which, according to the UCCA, demonstrates the support for Ukraine from the American public. It should be noted that according to the Reagan National Defense Survey published in December 2025, 62% of Americans want Ukraine to win the war with Russia, and 64% support providing American weapons to Ukraine.
“The United States must renew and expand its support for Ukraine, reaffirm its unwavering commitment to defending democracy, and categorically reject any positions that facilitate or legitimize Russia’s ongoing genocidal war. There can be no ambiguity in responding to such aggression. Supporting Ukraine is not only a moral obligation, but also a matter of U.S. national security,” the UCCA concluded.
