UCCA Urges U.S. to Increase Support for Ukraine After Massive Russian Attack

The Ukrainian Congressional Committee of America (UCCA) has condemned one of Russia’s largest missile and drone attacks against Ukraine, carried out on June 2. UCCA is calling on the United States and international partners to increase military support for Kyiv, including by providing modern air defense systems and increasing sanctions pressure on Russia.

This was reported by the Ukrainian Congressional Committee of America (UCCA).

“The Ukrainian Congressional Committee of America (UCCA) strongly condemns Russia’s latest massive missile and drone attack against Ukraine – one of the largest attacks of this war, once again targeting civilian communities, residential buildings, energy infrastructure and vital public services,” the statement said.

As noted by the organization, as a result of the night attack, Russia launched hundreds of drones and dozens of missiles at cities and regions of Ukraine, including Kyiv, Dnipro, Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhia, Poltava, Sumy, Chernihiv and Khmelnytskyi.

UCCA emphasized that residential buildings were destroyed, critical infrastructure was damaged, and civilians, including children, were among the dead and injured.

“These attacks are not isolated incidents; they are part of a long-term campaign of terror directed against the Ukrainian people,” the statement emphasizes.

The organization also expressed condolences to the families of the dead and support for the injured Ukrainians and rescuers working at the scene of the strikes.

According to UCCA representatives, Russia’s systematic attacks on the civilian population, residential buildings, hospitals, schools and energy facilities demonstrate disregard for international humanitarian law and human rights.

“These actions further reinforce the growing body of evidence that Russia’s war against Ukraine is not just a war of territorial conquest, but a genocidal campaign aimed at destroying the sovereignty, identity, and people of Ukraine,” the document states.

The statement places particular emphasis on the role of the United States. UCCA called on the US government and allies to increase military assistance to Ukraine, strengthen control over sanctions compliance, and close mechanisms for circumventing them.

In addition, the organization advocated for further holding Russian political and military leaders accountable for war crimes and crimes against humanity.

“Words without action only embolden the Kremlin. The time for expressing outrage is long past. Immediate, decisive action is needed! Every delay costs lives,” the UCCA stressed.

UCCA and its Washington-based public relations office, the Ukrainian National Information Service (UNIS), are also urging every voter to contact the White House and elected officials in Congress (senators and congressmen), by letter or phone call, and insist that the United States respond clearly and decisively to help Ukraine, as well as to implement crippling sanctions against the Russian Federation.

“Call on the President and your legislators to act immediately to provide Ukraine with urgently needed air defense capabilities. These weapons can save lives, protect civilian communities, and help defend Ukrainian cities from growing Russian terror,” noted UNIS.
