In City Hall Plaza (Massachusetts), the epicenter of social life in Boston, the Ukrainian community held a celebration of the 33rd anniversary of Ukraine's Independence. The celebration began with a flag-raising ceremony at Boston City Hall, followed by speeches and greetings, complemented by a colorful concert and a traditional fair.

This was report by the Ukrainian Cultural Center of New England.

"The day was filled with a flag-raising ceremony at Boston City Hall, speeches by distinguished guests of the event, cultural pride - delicious food and incredible talent. The event featured local vendors showcasing authentic Ukrainian crafts, Ukrainian food and more. The atmosphere was inspiring and culminated in a spectacular concert that brought the New England community together in a spirit of unity and resilience", the post said.

Notably, in addition to the ceremonial raising of the Ukrainian flag, the festival included a prayer by Fr. Roman Tarnavsky of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of St. Andrew the First-Called in Boston. The anthems of America and Ukraine were sung, and the Declaration of Independence of Ukraine was read in two languages. The event concluded with a prayer by Fr. Yaroslav Nalysnyk of the Ukrainian Catholic Church, and a prayer for Ukraine (the spiritual hymn of Ukraine) "God the Great is One" was read.

Talented local singers and dancers, including the Skrypchuk Duo, students from the Ridna Shkola (Ukrainian School in Massachusetts), and the MIT Ukrainian Folk Dance Ensemble, performed a concert for the guests.

The event was organized by volunteers of the Ukrainian Congress Committee of America - Boston Chapter, representatives of the Ukrainian American Educational Center of Boston, the Ukrainian Cultural Center of New England and the NGO Center Makor.
