Ukrainian Delegation in the U.S. Exchanges Experience on Veteran Support and Assistance to Children During War

An event featuring a Ukrainian delegation took place in Washington, D.C., as part of the Open World program organized by the Congressional Office for International Leadership, held at the Ukraine House. The delegation included military surgeons, doctors, civil society activists, members of parliament, and specialists in veteran support who are working to overcome the consequences of war and assist the wounded. The event aimed to strengthen partnerships between Ukrainian and American organizations in healthcare and social support. After Washington, the delegation will continue their journey to California, Virginia, and Nebraska, where they plan to exchange knowledge and study new approaches to rehabilitation and the recovery of Ukraine.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Ukraine to the United States, Oksana Markarova, also emphasized the importance of such meetings:

“The topics our experts will be working on in the U.S. are diverse and vital for sharing experiences with our American friends. This includes working with veterans, providing assistance to children during wartime, as well as treating multiple trauma and injuries”. 

Among the delegates are former Deputy Minister for Veterans Affairs Oksana Syvak and Verkhovna Rada Deputy and Head of the Subcommittee on Family and Children Affairs, Tatyana Skrypka.

Special thanks were expressed to Lewis Madanick and the Congressional Office for International leadership for organizing such exchanges. 

According to the participants, these educational exchanges are invaluable for enriching experience and implementing best practices necessary to support and rebuild Ukrainian society in wartime conditions.
