Global events around Ukraine continue to escalate. The United States has temporarily suspended intelligence sharing with Kyiv, which has raised concerns among its allies. At the same time, France and the UK have agreed to increase military aid to Ukraine, and people close to Trump are holding secret talks with Ukrainian politicians.
Trump to reset relations with Russia
The US special representative for Ukraine and Russia, Keith Kellogg, has said a new approach by the Trump administration aimed at resetting relations with Russia. According to him, President Trump is committed to ending the war and creating a lasting framework for peace, noting that the United States has already spent more than $170 billion in support of Ukraine.
Secret negotiations
According to the information by the Politico, Trump's key allies are holding closed-door meetings with Ukrainian politicians who favour a change in Zelenskiy's course. It is known that these meetings are taking place without the participation of Zelenskyi's government. Representatives of Trump's entourage are discussing the possibility of a new strategy for a peaceful settlement, which is not supported by everyone in Kyiv.
Revocation of temporary legal status for Ukrainians in the United States
The Trump administration is sees revoking the temporary legal status of some 240,000 Ukrainian refugees who fled the war. The move, expected in April, could lead to the deportation of these individuals, which would be a significant change from the previous administration's policy.
However, White House spokeswoman Caroline Leavitt denied the information, calling it 'fake news' and saying that no decision had been made.
Europe is preparing to support Ukraine on its own
French President Emmanuel Macron has saidthat Europe should be ready to help Ukraine without the support of the United States. France and the UK are considering the possibility of creating a coalition of countries to protect Ukrainian skies from Russian missiles. Germany said it was ready to increase its financial and military assistance to Kyiv.
France also has introduced to provide Ukraine with its own intelligence, after the United States suspended the provision of this information due to the conflict between Presidents Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump.
Meeting with EU leaders in Brussels
President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held with European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen and European Council President Antonio Costa. They discussed the urgent needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, including the strengthening of air defences, the supply of weapons and ammunition, and the improvement of the production capacity of the Ukrainian defence industry. EU leaders are close to agreeing a €800 billion defence plan.
