A ceremonial parade marking the 249th anniversary of U.S. independence took place in the heart of Washington, D.C. The Ukrainian community joined the celebration to express gratitude to the American people for their support and to demonstrate unity in the fight for freedom and democracy.
This was reported by United Help Ukraine.
The vibrant Independence Day parade marched along Constitution Avenue — from 7th to 17th Street — with participants gathering near the Hirshhorn Museum. The Ukrainian segment featured artists and performers, volunteers, and community leaders, including Probass&Hardi, Marychka Hlyten, Ukraine Rally DC, Andriy Pidkivka, Carpathia Folk Dance Ensemble, VODA Voice, Sribni Dzherela, Rebirth Ukraine, and others.
During the march, Ukrainians dressed in traditional embroidered clothing and carrying national flags expressed gratitude to the American people for their support and commitment to shared values. They also used the occasion to remind the world of recent large-scale attacks on civilians in Kyiv and other cities, presenting not only their culture but also their unity and determination.

Representatives of the Embassy of Ukraine in the U.S. were also present, including Ambassador Oksana Markarova.
"Participating in cultural events and national celebrations is not only a gesture of respect to the host country but also a chance to thank Americans for their support and keep Ukraine in the spotlight," Markarova noted.

For the first time, Ukrainian participants helped carry one of the parade's main attractions — a giant balloon in the shape of the Statue of Liberty.
In total, around 20 volunteers were involved in carrying the balloon and about 100 individuals took part in the march.

Organizers emphasized the symbolic importance of Ukraine’s participation in the celebration of America's 249th Independence Day. According to United Help Ukraine Executive Director Maryna Baydyuk, this day was an opportunity not only for celebration but also for promoting democratic values and freedom — ideals shared by both nations.
