The “California–Ukraine Leadership Dinner” was held in California – a large-scale event that brought together more than 150 leaders of the Ukrainian-American community, military personnel, diplomats, volunteers, partners and friends of Ukraine. The event became a symbol of deepening cooperation between Ukraine and the state of California.
This was reported by Ukrainian American House.
The evening took place in an atmosphere of support, sincere communication and shared responsibility for the future of Ukraine.
“It was an evening full of deep emotions – moments when people laughed, prayed together, shared personal stories and spoke frankly about Ukraine, the realities of the war and the importance of continuing to support Ukrainian families and communities,” the Ukrainian American House noted.
The event was a continuation of the official visit of the Ukrainian delegation led by the Commander of the National Guard of Ukraine, Major General Oleksandr Pivnenko, to California.
As part of the visit, meetings were held with the leadership of the California National Guard, led by Major General Matthew P. Beavers.
The parties discussed the prospects for a strategic partnership between Ukraine and California in the areas of defense cooperation, institutional partnership, exchange of experience and support for Ukrainian communities, and humanitarian initiatives.
“The hall was full of leadership, respect, and deep determination to stand by Ukraine. And when the Ukrainian delegation – including female servicemen – spoke from the heart, many in the hall could not hold back tears. It was more than a dinner. It was a night of unity, courage, and a common goal. God bless America and Ukraine,” emphasized Ukrainian American House Co-Chair Vlad Scotts.
Among the honored guests of the event were Major General and Adjutant General of the California National Guard Matthew P. Beavers, Commander of the National Guard of Ukraine, Major General Oleksandr Pivnenko, Consul General of Ukraine in San Francisco Dmytro Kushneruk, and Chairman of the Nova Ukraine organization Mykola (Nik) Bilogorsky.
A particularly emotional part of the evening were the speeches of representatives of the Ukrainian delegation, in particular, female servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
They spoke about their personal experiences of the war, the challenges experienced by Ukrainian women, and the strength of Ukrainian society in the face of a full-scale invasion.
“Their personal stories emphasized both the challenges faced by Ukrainian women during the war and the extraordinary strength, resilience, and courage demonstrated daily by the Ukrainian people,” the report says.
During the evening, the participants discussed further humanitarian support for Ukraine, psychological assistance to Ukrainian families, support for veterans, as well as the development of public initiatives and long-term assistance programs for Ukrainians in Ukraine and the United States.
A separate part of the event was a charity lottery, during which an exclusive painting by artist Anna Aksyonova, created especially for the event, was raffled off. According to the organizers, the work symbolized unity through diversity and the power of joint efforts.
“The painting carried a symbolic message of unity through diversity – combining several colors, shapes and elements into one powerful composition. Its artistic concept reflected the idea that when different people, communities and efforts come together, they create something stronger and more meaningful than any individual contribution,” the concept of the author’s work was explained.
All funds raised during the charity raffle will go to support social programs and help Ukrainian children and families affected by the war.
Organizers emphasized that the “California-Ukraine Leadership Dinner” once again demonstrated the strength of the Ukrainian-American community and the importance of partnerships between civic organizations, military personnel, volunteers, and local leaders.
“Events like this remind us that significant impact is created when people unite around shared values, compassion, and a common goal,” the organizers concluded.
