On Saturday, February 22, a mass rally was held in Washington, D.C., at the Lincoln Memorial to mark the third anniversary of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. The event brought together hundreds of people - representatives of the Ukrainian diaspora, diplomats, international partners, and all those who support Ukraine's struggle for freedom. Participants held Ukrainian flags and posters with anti-war slogans and calls for increased support for Kyiv.
This was reported by one of the organizers US Ukrainian Activists.
After the main program, the participants marched to the residence of the Russian ambassador to the United States. People chanted "Russia is a terrorist state" and "Ukraine will win," demanding an end to aggression and fair punishment for Russian war crimes.
Ukraine's Ambassador to the United States, Oksana Markarova, emphasized that the event united not only Ukrainians, but also their allies from around the world.
"We stand together in the struggle for the victory of freedom and a just peace," she said.
Speakers included EU Ambassador to the United States Jovita Neliupšienė, President of the Ukrainian World Congress Paul Grod, American politician Mark Levin, and Ukrainian veteran Andriy Smolenskyy. They stressed the importance of international support and the need to keep pressure on Russia.
"Today's march is a voice of solidarity. We will not stop until Ukraine wins and Russia is held accountable for its crimes," the organizers said.
The event was organized by a number of Ukrainian NGOs in the United States, including US Ukrainian Activists, United Help Ukraine, Razom for Ukraine, Ukraine House, Ukrainian Congress Committee of America, and others. The event was supported by the Embassy of Ukraine in the United States.
